PORT ANGELES — The warm, high-energy sounds of Sequimarimba will echo at the free Concert at the Pier tonight.
Sequimarimba will perform from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at City Pier.
With complex, African-themed rhythms and exuberant energy, Sequimarimba is know for bringing listeners to their feet to dance.
Arrive early for one of the limited number of chairs available, or bring a lawn chair or blanket.
There’s plenty of surrounding parking, or walk from the downtown farmers market.
Tap your toes — or get up and dance to Sequimarimba’s emotion and energy.
This is an all-ages, family event.
Sequimarimba is a nonprofit band; its seven members donate most of the band’s earnings to local environmental and social causes.
The outdoor summer Concert at the Pier is every Wednesday night through Sept. 15.
The free concerts are sponsored by Peninsula Daily News and KeyBank.
Co-sponsors are the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department and Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce.
Farmers market
Organizers recommend getting to the pier by 5:45 p.m. to claim one of the chairs provided by city Parks and Recreation.
There is also plenty of space for a blanket or a lawn chair on the apron in front of the stage.
Bring a picnic basket, or grab some food at the Port Angeles Farmers Market or from a downtown store or restaurant.
Music fans can bring non-alcoholic drinks. No beer or wine is allowed in the concert area.
Bring a jacket, too — it be chilly on the pier at times.
The concerts are being held in association with the farmers market.
The market is open on Laurel Street from First Street to Front Street from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The farmers market is also open on Laurel Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
In addition, a second farmers market — Gertie’s — located at 1016 E. First St., one block east of Race Street, is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
