CARLSBORG — A Sequim woman is being called a heroine after being injured while saving the life of a fellow good Samaritan late Monday at the scene of a series of crashes at the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and Kitchen-Dick Road.
Jordana R. Wood, 35, remained in “very serious” condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Tuesday, her husband, Carl Wood, said.
Surgeons have begun repairing broken bones Mrs. Wood suffered when she was struck by a car at the crash scene late Monday.
Wood said doctors told him his wife would have to undergo several additional surgeries and be hospitalized for as long as six weeks.
Hospital officials say Mrs. Wood also suffered pelvic and internal injuries.
According to Wood, his wife was on her way home from a Jewish Community of Sequim/Port Angeles board meeting when she saw the crash and stopped to assist.
