CARLSBORG — A Sequim woman has been cited for negligence after a two-car collision on U.S. Highway 101 at its intersection with Kitchen-Dick Road earlier this week.
Both drivers — Katelyn Crosby, 19, of Sequim and Margaret Depew, 51, of Port Angeles — were alert and talking when medic crews arrived after the 6:15 p.m. Tuesday wreck and were treated on the scene and transported to Olympic Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Patrick Young, Clallam County Fire District No. 3 spokesman.
Olympic Medical Center spokeswoman Bobby Beeman said no patients with those names were on the registry as of 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The State Patrol has cited Crosby for negligence, said Trooper Russ Winger, spokesman for the department.
Crosby told the investigating trooper she had had a medical problem before the collision, said Winger, who did not know more details.
The wreck blocked the highway for about 15 minutes.
Fire crews found two Honda Civics damaged after one apparently had struck the other on the driver’s side, bending the doors for both the driver and rear passenger, Young said.
‘Didn’t stop at all’
Crosby was driving southbound on Kitchen-Dick Road in a gray Honda Civic when she apparently failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 101, Winger said.
“It appears she didn’t stop at all,” Winger said.
Crosby continued into the intersection and drove in front of Depew, who was traveling westbound on Highway 101 in a black Honda Civic and was not able to stop before striking Crosby’s Honda, Winger said.
The black Honda ended up blocking the westbound lane of Highway 101, Young said, while the other came to a stop on a large pile of sand near Kirk Road.
Eastbound traffic was delayed for about 15 minutes until the wreck was cleared, Young said, while westbound traffic was diverted onto Old Olympic Highway via Kitchen-Dick Road.
