Neighbors used hoses to quickly extinguish a fire on a cedar shake roof Wednesday night in the SunLand housing development north of Sequim.
The fire was reported about 9:30 p.m. at the home Steve and Mary Budke, 133 Sunset Place.
Neighbors Marty and Sue Pechina told the Budkes of the fire and then used a hose to extinguish the blame before Clallam County Fire District No. 3 firefighters arrived. Sequim attorney Ron Bell, another neighbor, helped put out the fire.
The blaze apparently started as a chimney fire and then spread to the roof.
There were no injuries and no damage to the interior of the one-story structure.
