SEQUIM — Youths between the ages of 15 and 18 will be unable to use the Sequim Boys & Girls Club for about 60 days while a new teen leader is hired and a program that will better suit their needs is put in place.
Suzanne Little, director of the club, said teen-agers will be able to help design the new program at the Sequim center, 400 W. Fir St.
“It’s a normal process of Boys & Girls clubs to provide a more optimal atmosphere,” Little said.
About 50 children between the ages of 13 and 18 use the club’s teen room, but Little said she wasn’t able to pinpoint the number affected by the temporary closure.
She said 13 year olds and 14 year olds will be able to use club while changes are being made.
The closure doesn’t affect the Port Angeles club which is also operated under the auspices of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula.
