SEQUIM — A settlement reached Monday between citizens group Sequim First and a developer proposing a regional shopping center on the city’s west side appears to have few detractors.
All parties to the settlement, which would end judicial appeals over the project, say they are relieved and satisfied with the deal.
The 395,000-square-foot Sequim Village Marketplace, targeted for a 42-acre site near West Washington Street and River Road and due to be anchored by The Home Depot home improvement warehouse outlet, was challenged before the City Council, a Clallam County Superior Court judge and finally the state Court of Appeals.
The primary issues under appeal were stormwater monitoring and traffic impact.
Monday’s settlement addresses both.
“This is a victory,” Andrew Shogren, vice president of Sequim First, said Tuesday.
“It’s a great day for Sequim First and a great day for Sequim.”
