SEQUIM — Facing the possibility of having to act on proposals for regional shopping centers in the near future, the City Council is pushing the Planning Commission to prepare an interim set of design standards.
Council and Planning Commission members discussed the need during a work session Wednesday.
Planning Commission Chairman Troye Jarmuth said it is possible the board will have to hold an emergency meeting Tuesday to discuss the standards.
As of Wednesday, the Planning Department had yet to being reviewing any plans for a regional shopping center, although a Tacoma company has filed plans for an 800,000-square-foot center east of downtown.
