SEQUIM –– The Sequim School District has until Sept. 15 to fill the seat on the board of directors that will be vacated by Sarah Bedinger on June 17.
Bedinger, 46, submitted her letter of resignation to the School Board at its meeting Monday night.
It will become official after the board approves the minutes of Monday’s meeting at its next meeting June 16.
The appointee will serve the rest of Bedinger’s term through 2015.
Bedinger represents District 1 on the School Board, which covers the western side of the school district.
The district has posted a map of its districts on its website. Those interested in filling Bedinger’s seat can obtain an application and review the map of director districts on the school’s website at http://tinyurl.com/PDN-SSD.
Applications will be accepted through July 15.
The board will interview applicants at its July 21 meeting and discuss the candidates in an executive session conducted either that night or Aug. 4.
An election for the seat is set for November 2015.
Bedinger, first elected in 2003, announced May 20 that she would resign.
She said her decision was driven by the fact her youngest child will graduate from Sequim High School next week.
