SEQUIM — Heidi Hietpas has been hired as the interim executive director of finance and operations for the Sequim School District.
Hietpas steps in for Brian Lewis, who accepted a job as executive director of operations for Arlington Public Schools in late August after working at the Sequim district since 2007.
Hietpas started the one-year interim position Sept. 14.
After working as director of finance and operations for the Lynden School District from 2012-15, she returned to Sequim, where she was born.
“I have spent the last year creating my own business, involving myself in the community and learning to farm, another passion of mine,” she said.
“I am excited for the opportunity to work for and with the students, educators and support staff at Sequim School District.”
Prior to her tenure with the Lynden School District, she served as an assistant state auditor and then assistant audit manager for the state auditor’s office from 2007-12 in Bellingham.
She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Western Washington University and is a certified public accountant in the state of Washington.
“We’re very fortunate to find someone who has accounting skills and public school experience,” Superintendent Gary Neal said.
