SEQUIM — The Police Department this afternoon said it has arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with someone impersonating a police officer.

They are interrogating Sean Earl Gormley in the investigation into an incident earlier today.

Here is the statement issued by Sequim police earlier this afternoon:

Sequim Police are looking to stop and question Sean Earl Gormley, a 25-year-old white male, 5 feet 11 inches, 175 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, for [investigation of] Impersonation of an Officer re Sequim Police Department case 13-01462.

Gormley entered a local thrift shop, and an employee asked him if he was armed because it was evident that he was wearing a bulletproof vest.

He replied that he was, and that he had a permit, and that he was with OPNET, which is a drug investigation team comprised of officers from the North Olympic Peninsula’s police departments.

Gormley was last seen about noon on 02-15-13 on foot in the area of South Second Avenue and Bell Street in Sequim, wearing a gray stocking cap, black jacket, blue jeans, and carrying a black backpack.

He may have had some facial hair. The public is asked to call 9-1-1 if Gormley is spotted. He is to be considered armed.
