SEQUIM — The Sequim Police Department recently received two donations in support of its K-9 Program.
The Sequim Sunrise Rotary Club made a donation to the police department for the purchase of a ballistic vest for K-9 Officer Chase.
Also, an anonymous supporter delivered a new canine-training bite suit to be used during training exercises.
“These are valuable pieces of equipment that are necessary for the training and application of our K-9 unit,” said K-9 Officer Mike Hill.
“They assist Chase in his training and will help him stay safe while he’s at work.”
The donated equipment is valued at approximately $2,000.
The police department began the third generation of its K-9 program in 2008 with the addition of Chase, a German shepherd patrol canine who specializes in tracking and apprehension of criminals.
The K-9 program is funded through donations.
Public donations can be mailed to Sequim Police Department, 609 W. Washington St. #16, Sequim, WA 98382; or Sequim City Hall, 152 W. Cedar St., Sequim, WA 98382.
