SEQUIM — Police Chief Ken Burge completed his first round of interviewing for the position of chief of the Alcoa, Tenn., Police Department.
Burge, in his second year at the helm of Sequim’s department, spent three days last week enduring a round of “assessment testing” — which included psychological tests — and in-person contacts with Alcoa city officials and council members.
“The process was stressful but enjoyable,” Burge said Friday.
A panel of seven interviewed Burge and the other three candidates who are finalists for the job in eastern Tennessee.
The four stayed in the same hotel and spent time getting to know one another, Burge said.
70 original applicants
Five candidates had originally been selected from a field of more than 70 applicants. One dropped out after being selected for the second round of consideration, Burge said.
City officials did not tell the finalists what their next step will be in the hiring process would be.
