SEQUIM — After five years at the helm of the Sequim Police Department, Chief Byron Nelson plans to retire by early next year.
Nelson, 62, will likely leave the department by March, City Manager Bill Elliott said.
“He’s been talking about it for a while,” Elliott said.
A new chief will likely be hired in January, and Nelson will remain for a month or two for transition, Elliott said.
