SEQUIM — Legal wranglings continue to complicate plans to bring two large-scale retail developments into the city’s west side.
Citizens group Sequim First on Aug. 28 filed land use petitions and appeals in King and Thurston superior courts challenging the City Council’s decision to grant permits for the construction of a Wal-Mart “superstore,” planned for the intersection of West Washington Street and Priest Road, and a proposed regional shopping complex.
The Home Depot has signed an agreement to place a home improvement warehouse in the regional center, slated for a site across Washington Street near River Road and set to be named Sequim Village Marketplace.
The appeals name the city of Sequim, the developer or principal for each project and landowners holding parcels proposed for each development as respondents.
