SEQUIM — People dressed as butterflies. Lunch from Galare Thai or from Jack Clapp, the Sequim Valley Products man.
The Nash’s organic produce stand, offering samples of baby-garlic-leek bread. Locally made chocolate truffles, Jose’s Famous Salsa, goat cheese from Chimacum, local honey, tie-dyed tops, dresses and socks from Tie Mee.
Sounds like the Sequim Open Aire Market Spring Preview, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Nearly 50 vendors will lay out their food, art and other wares at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St.; admission is free.
“There will be plants for your garden, birdhouses, jewelry, handmade dresses and dolls, vintage style bags and more,” Open Aire Market manager Lisa Bridge promised.
She’s bringing in volunteers who, in their butterfly outfits, will make balloon animals for kids, while Eric Papineau of Bandit Glass will set up games of marbles.
“We’re going to have a new setup this year, with a mini food court and picnic tables by the music,” Bridge added.
Providing the songs will be folksinger-guitarist Joe Bridge, who happens to be her spouse.
The Spring Preview is a taste of things to come.
The Sequim Open Aire Market’s 15th season opens May 8, with the dozens of vendors taking over Cedar Street between Sequim and Second avenues each Saturday through October.
