CARLSBORG — A Sequim Police Department officer escaped unhurt after the patrol car he was driving failed to negotiate a turn and slammed into two RV trailers.
The patrol car, a $71,000 Alpenlite Villa fifth-wheel trailer and a Wilderness travel trailer valued at $15,000 were destroyed on the Olympic RV lot at 22 Gilbert Road on Tuesday night.
Officer Mark Poole escaped bruised but otherwise unhurt, Sgt. Sheri Crain said. The airbag in Poole’s patrol car deployed, saving him from more substantial injury.
Poole was responding to a police car and made a right turn from U.S. Highway 101 onto Gilbert Road.
He was unable to complete the turn and his patrol car crossed across Gilbert and rammed under the Alpenlite, said Olympic RV salesman Shane Loomis.
The Alpenlite was shoved into the Wilderness trailer.
