SEQUIM — A Bonneville Power Administration crew today will try to locate the cause of a power outage that lasted only eight minutes Sunday afternoon but affected an estimated 9,000 customers from Carlsborg east to Diamond Point.
The outage began at 12:07 p.m. Sunday when a high-voltage power line between the Fairmont and Happy Valley stations went down, knocking out power to six substations, said Ken Morgan, Clallam County Public Utility District’s manager of substations and transmission systems.
Customers between Carlsborg and Diamond Point were without power for about eight minutes until Bonneville could close the downed line and reroute the power, Morgan said.
Bonneville will send a crew out today to follow the line and determine why it was knocked out, he said.
