Sequim men sentenced to drug program after pleading guilty to burglary

PORT ANGELES — Two Sequim men have been sentenced to complete a drug treatment program in Chehalis after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a January home burglary.

Jacob Henry Gloor, 20, and Ryan Michael Vanwinkle, 25, entered guilty pleas in April for their roles in the Jan. 17 burglary of a home along Gold Dust Lane northwest of Sequim in which at least $10,000 worth of property — including silverware, jewelry, gold nuggets, DVDs and a car — was reported stolen.

Clallam County sheriff’s deputies later recovered the car in a parking lot near Railroad Bridge Park.

Vanwinkle pleaded guilty April 28 to one count reach of residential burglary and second-degree vehicle prowl, according to Clallam County Superior Court documents.

Gloor pleaded guilty April 17 to one count each of residential burglary, second-degree trafficking in stolen property, second-degree theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree vehicle prowling and second-degree identity theft, according to Superior Court documents.

Both were sentenced to 24 months community custody and to complete residential drug treatment programs in Chehalis, according to court documents.

Gloor was sentenced May 8, and Vanwinkle was sentenced May 15.

Both men initially pleaded not guilty in the case.

Gloor turned himself in to police Feb. 3, while Vanwinkle did the same Feb. 5.

Deputies said the pair told them that they had stolen the belongings and sold some of them at pawn shops in Sequim and Port Angeles to get money to buy heroin.

Gloor told deputies he and Vanwinkle had buried the rest in the forest of Robin Hill Park and later led investigators there to recover the items.
