SEQUIM — A memorial service for KayDee Campbell, the 13-year-old Sequim Middle School student killed in a July 19 car accident, will probably have to wait until her Little League teammates finish out their championship season.
Campbell’s mother, Ronda Campbell, said Monday that she couldn’t imagine holding a service for KayDee without the friends her daughter had bonded with in a game she loved so much.
The team is in Oregon, playing in the regional tournament after winning the state championship last week.
“Sports were her life,” Campbell said of KayDee, who played left field for the Sequim Pyros and helped them advance toward the state championship.
KayDee, Ronda Campbell and Ray Chipman were riding in Campbell’s car after a tournament game July 19 in Snoqualmie when it struck a utility pole on state Highway 169 in Maple Valley.
