SEQUIM — A memorial fund has been set up to help pay funeral expenses for KayDee Campbell, the 13-year-old Sequim Middle School student who died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a car crash last weekend in Maple Valley.
Shelly Constant, a Campbell family friend, said funeral arrangements are on hold while KayDee’s mother, Ronda, undergoes a series of operations to repair broken bones in her face and body from the collision.
Constant also said arrangements have been delayed because KayDee’s organs will be donated, a process that can take several days to complete.
Constant’s daughter, Amanda Townsend, was a friend of KayDee’s and the girls spent time together at her house, she said.
Setting up the memorial fund was something she felt she needed to do.
“I just want KayDee to have proper services,” Constant said, “and the family can’t afford it right now.”
Donations to the KayDee Campbell Memorial Fund may be made at any branch of First Federal Savings & Loan Association.
Proceeds from the fund will help pay costs associated with funeral services for KayDee.
