SEQUIM — A rear-end collision involving three vehicles Monday afternoon sent a 57-year-old man to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.
William Laubner of Sequim was in satisfactory condition early Monday evening following the approximately 1:45 p.m. wreck on U.S. Highway 101 near Sequim Bay State Park.
Richard F. Olson, 92, of Sequim was to be charged with inattention-speeding too fast, according to the State Patrol.
The eastbound lane was blocked about 3 miles east of Sequim until about 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Traveling eastbound were Olson, driving a 2009 Pontiac G6; Laubner, in a 2011 Ford F-150 pickup; and Monica A. Quarto, 56, of Port Angeles in a 2011 Honda CRV.
A 13-year-old girl was a passenger in Quarto’s vehicle.
Laubner was stopped for traffic when Quarto slowed behind him and was struck from behind by Olson.
Quarto’s Honda pushed into Laubner’s truck, totaling her vehicle and damaging Laubner’s, the State Patrol said. Olson’s vehicle was also totaled.
All three drivers and the passenger were wearing seat belts, and drugs or alcohol were not involved, the State Patrol said.
