A Kitsap County wreck sent a 17-year-old Sequim man to a Seattle hospital and killed a cow on Wednesday, the State Patrol said.
Joseph Edward Skerbeck was flown to Harborview Medical Center with facial fractures after the 7:12 p.m. wreck on state Highway 3, police said.
The Sequim man driving the car Skerbeck was in — Sean Douglas Lind¬stedt, 18 — was not hurt, while a driver from Kingston suffered minor injuries, police said.
The State Patrol gave this account:
Lindstedt was driving a red 2001 Volkswagen north on Highway 3 when he struck a cow.
The cow was tossed up and over his car.
A red 1998 Ford van driven by Connie Lynn Simila, 50, of Kingston — also traveling north — struck the cow and rolled over it.
Both cars ended up on the northbound ramp to Trigger Avenue. The ramp was blocked for a little less than an hour.
Simila was treated at the scene.
The remaining members of the herd were returned to their pasture by their owner.
Both cars were towed away.
All those in the cars were wearing seat belts.
The cause of the wreck was cattle in the road, the State Patrol said.
