Sequim man arrested for investigation of burglary

SEQUIM — An anonymous tip led to the arrest Friday morning of Marlon John Lamprecht, a longtime Sequim resident who allegedly stole six firearms and more than $20,000 in cash from the home of a Port Angeles-area acquaintance June 15.

But a shotgun and about $19,000 in cash that were stolen remains missing, Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Keegan said Friday.

Authorities arrested Lamprecht, 23, without incident after he was found on private property in the 1000 block of Fish Hatchery Road off Taylor Cutoff Road in Sequim at 10 a.m. Friday.

“We got an anonymous tip that he was on the property, sleeping in a car,” Keegan said.

“We woke him up.”

The car was not stolen, Keegan said.

Lamprecht, a convicted felony bail jumper, was booked later Friday without bond into the county jail for investigation of six counts of theft of a firearm, five counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and single counts of first-degree burglary and first-degree theft.

He probably will make his first Superior Court appearance at 1 p.m. Monday, Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Finley said late Friday afternoon.

Searched home

An emergency felony warrant had been issued for Lamprecht’s arrest June 20 after authorities searched his Ryser Avenue residence and found $300 in stolen cash, five of the six stolen guns and parts to a gun safe that held cash and firearms.

The gun-safe parts included a lock that matched the alleged victim’s key.

The recovered guns were an AK-47, a .22-caliber handgun, a .30-06 hunting rifle, a .30/30 lever action sporting rifle and a .22-caliber semiautomatic sporting rifle.

The missing gun is a 12-gauge shotgun.

“The search for the shotgun continues,” Keegan said.

Lamprecht became a suspect after a man whom Lamprecht visited about a year ago became suspicious that Lamprecht had committed the crimes.

He went to Lamprecht’s Facebook page and saw that Lamprecht had been associating the day before the burglary with Quinta Huggins, 30, of Port Angeles.

Keegan said the man went to Huggins’ Facebook page and found a photo of a truck witnesses said they saw speeding away from his home the morning of the burglary.

Authorities found new clothing and electronics at Huggins’ residence, including items inside the truck that allegedly was used in the burglary.

Huggins was not present when officers served the search warrant.

Keegan said authorities have been unable to find her.

“That’s probably the next person we want to talk to,” he said, adding that a warrant has not been issued for her arrest.
