Sequim man airlifted to Harborview after wreck

SHINE — An elderly Sequim man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and may face charges following a two-vehicle wreck on state Highway 104 at Shine Road, according to a State Patrol memo.

Donald J. McMeen, 86, was driving a 2017 Toyota Prius northbound on Shine Road about 2 p.m. Sunday, the memo stated. Meanwhile, Sonyja E. De Tiliere, 27, of Bellingham was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry eastbound on Highway 104 at Shine Road.

McMeen’s Prius pulled out in front of De Tiliere’s Camry to turn westbound on Highway 104 and the two collided, according to the memo. Both vehicles came to rest on the westbound shoulder of the highway.

McMeen was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with unspecified injuries. De Tiliere and her passenger, Zachary O. Hartman, 26, of Bellingham, were taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital in Port Townsend.

Patient conditions were unavailable at press time.

All three people were wearing seatbelts and both vehicles were destroyed, according to the State Patrol.

Drugs or alcohol were not involved, but possible charges against McMeen were pending the results of the investigation, the State Patrol stated.
