SEQUIM — The Sequim Vehicle/Vessel Licensing Office will remain open today and through Wednesday.
Clallam County Superior Court Commissioner W. Brent Basden on Thursday granted Karen Shewbert, Sequim Vehicle/Vessel License office contractor, until this coming Wednesday to remain open for business, asking that a state Department of
Licensing repreentative appear before him to answer additional questions.
Issuing the order, Basden scheduled another court hearing at 1 p.m. Wednesday so each side could present arguments.
County Auditor Patty Rosand had ordered the Sequim license registration office to shut down at the end of business hours Thursday, saying Shewbert failed to comply with her county contract after 12 years of service in Sequim.
Representing Shewbert before Basden was her Sequim attorney, Craig Miller.
Miller had sought a preliminary injunction until Shewbert’s case was appealed before an independent review panel.
Mark Nichols, chief deputy prosecuting attorney, represented Rosand.
