SEQUIM — A lawsuit over property rezoning that would allow construction of a regional shopping center south of downtown may be settled.
Craig Ritchie, legal counsel for the city, said Monday that lawyers for both sides have been negotiating and that he has seen some movement indicating a settlement soon.
Attorneys representing the separate owners Bell Creek Plaza, Washington Plaza and the anti-shopping center group Sequim First filed the lawsuit against the city and Bell Homestead LLC after the City Council rezoned 22 acres between Brown Road and Sequim Avenue.
The suit claims the rezoning was improper.
