SEQUIM — A prominent business owner, whose request to annex some of his land into the city was initially rejected by City Council members, may give it another try soon.
Bill Littlejohn, a developer, owner and operator of senior housing and assisted-living complexes and owner of Olympic Ambulance, approached the council in early July to request an annexation of about 84 acres north of Sequim.
But council members told Littlejohn they were trying to avoid annexing sections of land that would result in “islands” of unincorporated parcels not within city boundaries.
They asked him to survey owners of a larger section of land — about 250 acres total — to see if they were interested in joining the city.
Littlejohn agrees with that philosophy; in fact, he said, it’s part of the reason he wants to annex the land, part of which abuts a city-owned wellfield off of Medsker Road.
“The boundaries are odd-shaped out there,” said Ken Clark, a surveyor who represented Littlejohn before the council.
“First he wants a boundary line adjustment that will square up those lines.”
