SEQUIM: Irrigation Festival Kickoff dinner set for Saturday

SEQUIM — Pins, buttons and other memorabilia will go on auction Saturday during the traditional Irrigation Festival Kickoff Dinner, which begins at 6 p.m. in Guy Cole Convention Center at Carrie Blake Park.

The first pin to be auctioned will commemorate the 2001 Irrigation Festival. Traditionally, that first pin has been presented to the reigning queen.

Joelle Price, a Sequim High School junior, will make her first official appearance as queen since being crowned March 3.

Joining her in the royal court are princesses Alicia Apple, Brittney Ohmert and Gioia Roldan-Shaw.

“Tropical Paradise”‘ is the theme of the dinner-auction. Beach attire is encouraged, but not required, as the convention center takes on an island atmosphere.

Entertainment will be provided by the Naki^on Singers, the Sequim High School Ambassador Chorus, a hula dance team and vocalist Amanda Bacon.

The event is a fund-raiser to help raise money to cover expenses and provide scholarships for Irrigation Festival royalty.

Tickets are $15 per person. The menu includes teriyaki chicken, vegetarian fettuccini, ambrosia salad, fresh green salad, other side dishes, bread rolls and beverages. A cocktail bar also will be available for adults.

Tickets are available at the Crystal Pedlar in Sequim or may be purchased at the door. Interested individuals also may be placed on a reserve list at the door by calling 681-0802 and leaving a message.
