SEQUIM — In the run-up to the 111th Irrigation Festival, the hot-rod car parade has already taken a couple of laps around the figurative debate table and had one small explosion.
Bruce Lindquist, organizer of the Super Cruzz and Show ‘n’ Shine, scheduled to be part of Irrigation Festival events on May 13, had been gathering entries for the past few weeks.
He predicted 200 hot rods from across the West would come to Sequim on festival weekend — about 50 more than in last year’s car parade.
Lindquist planned to have the vintage automobiles cruise from Les Schwab Tire Center, 802 E. Washington St., up to Seventh Avenue, where they would turn off Washington and head back to the Fifth Avenue Furniture parking lot.
The cars would stay there on display all day.
The Police Department, however, said Lindquist’s plan went too far.
