SEQUIM — At least five Virginia Mason Clinic family practice physicians have resigned their positions — a move clinic officials say could affect 6,000 clinic patients.
But the physicians — Charles Sullivan, Joel Finman, Kari Olsen, Roger Olsen and Michael Crim — all plan to stay in Sequim.
“No one anticipates leaving the community,” Finman wrote in letter handed out Wednesday to patients at the clinic in the Sequim Medical Plaza on North Fifth Avenue. “The departures from the clinic would be expected to take effect no sooner than next spring.
“This is an amicable separation and reflects no ill will whatsoever on the part of the physicians or the organization,” he wrote.
Virginia Mason officials were notified that the family practice physician group would be leaving the organization next spring.
Neither the departing physicians nor Virginia Mason administrators would provide a reason for the resignations, but they did say the decision was based on ongoing discussions.
