SEQUIM — A new report issued by the U.S. Geological Survey on the Dungeness River’s link to ground water will form the basis of a computer model to predict future water changes.
“Knowing where and how much water is moving between the river and ground water gives us an important understanding of how the hydrologic system works, said USGS hydrologist William F. Simonds, lead author of the report, made in cooperation with the state Department of Ecology and Clallam County.
“With this information, a computer model of the system can be built to tell water managers how changes might affect the system in the future.”
The report is online at http://pubs.water.usgs.gov/wri024161.
