SEQUIM — Public opinions differed Tuesday during an open house on what is best for the revitalization of downtown Sequim.
But a majority of the 80 or more people who attended the public meeting in the Sequim Community Center agreed on these aspects of the early planning process:
* Provide additional public parking spaces.
* Reduce “bulb”-design curbing at intersections and increase potential turn radius for vehicles.
* Keep truck and large recreational vehicle traffic off South Sequim Avenue.
* Install mid-block crosswalks on West Washington Street between Sequim and Second avenues.
* Remove the designated bicycle lanes from Sequim Avenue and develop a bicycle and pedestrian route along the length of Second Avenue from Hammond Street to the schools on Fir Street.
* Develop a four-way boulevard stop at the intersection of North Sequim Avenue and Fir Street, near Sequim High School.
* And, do not install medians on Washington Street, which is considered the city’s parade street.
