SEQUIM — The City Council will focus on economic development in 2003, in addition to improving infrastructure for businesses and residences, providing effective communications with the public and delving into issues to help the city’s administration.
During a four-hour retreat Saturday, council members determined these needs as their path for the coming year.
They plan to work on strategies to implement the goals during future work sessions.
After the meeting, council members said the session gave them a lot to think about.
Bertha Cooper, assistant administrator in charge of planning and development for Olympic Medical Center, was the facilitator for the meeting.
Council members began the session by establishing areas of interest and then goals in those areas.
Council members said a priority is to bring more businesses and sales tax dollars to the community while retaining its rural character.
