SEQUIM — Plans are moving forward for combined public and private parking in a lot on North Sequim Avenue, city Public Works Director Jim Bay said Wednesday.
The plan involves a joint effort by the city and five downtown merchants.
“They’re all really excited about it, and they want to know when it’s going to be built,” Bay told the Sequim City Council during its Wednesday work session.
The combined parking lot, which includes the city’s property on the east side of North Sequim Avenue, commercial lots in the 100 block of East Washington Street and area along North Sequim Avenue, has been heralded by some council members as a model for the future.
“This will be a great showplace,” said councilman Paul McHugh.
