SEQUIM — The City Council on Monday will revisit a decision made July 28 that gave a green light to a large housing development on the east side of town.
The state Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Jamestown S”Klallam tribe have each filed a motion for reconsideration of the decision, which upheld Planning Director Dennis Lefevre’s preliminary permitting of a 314-unit residential development at Simdars Road near the U.S. Highway 101 interchange.
Materials submitted by Fish and Wildlife just prior to the July 28 public hearing and council meeting — which expressed concerns over the proposed project’s impact on the Roosevelt elk herd — were not adequately reviewed before a decision was reached, the motion claims.
City Manager Bill Elliott said motions for reconsideration of quasi-judicial decisions are generally limited to an examination of procedural actions undertaken by the council.
