Citizens group Sequim First has agreed to drop its judicial appeal of a regional shopping center on Sequim’s west side, allowing complex’s construction to proceed immediately, it was announced Monday night.
A settlement reached between Sequim First and AVB Development Partners paves the way for the Sequim Village Marketplace project, which will include a Home Depot home improvement warehouse.
The agreement calls for AVB to conduct water-quality monitoring on the 395,000-square-foot site on a permanent basis. It also stipulates that Clallam County will receive all of the $100,000 AVB agreed to pay the city for mitigation of additional traffic to county roads.
The City Council approved the settlement late Monday evening.
The settlement ends appeals filed by Sequim First in both Clallam County Superior Court and the state Court of Appeals.
