SEQUIM — The balloting is about to begin in one emotion-ridden election.
A fat packet containing a list of 25 candidates for eight Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce board seats will be mailed Monday morning, said Walt Schubert, chamber board president.
A committee of volunteers assembled the ballot packets on Friday, and the Olympic Mailing Service will send them to all 434 chamber members, added Deborah Rambo Sinn, the board official who’s overseen candidate nominations.
Chamber members will have until April 15 to return their ballots to a specially designated mail box; Sequim Bible Church pastor Dave Wiitala will serve as election inspector in charge of counting the votes.
The slate of nominees is a “who’s who” of Sequim that includes Citizen of the Year Stephen Rosales, Sherwood Assisted Living owner and philanthropist Bill Littlejohn and Irrigation Festival organizer Emily Westcott.
It’s also a picture of the months-long power struggle over chamber leadership.
