SEQUIM — Four applicants for Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce executive director have been interviewed so far for the position to be vacated April 15.
“We’re definitely on track,” said Vickie Maples, who in February announced she was reluctantly resigning as chamber executive director for personal reasons.
“Things are going well with the recruiting process.”
The new director is to start work April 11 and work with Maples in a transition period.
Maples said the chamber has received between 15 and 20 applications for the position. Those applications are now before the chamber’s selection committee.
Christy Rookard, chamber board president, said the selection process could go on beyond the four interviews that have been conducted so far.
She said the position would be filled “as soon as possible.”
Chamber officials declined to name those who had been interviewed or specify if those interviewed were finalists.
The chamber selection committee began reviewing applications March 7 and will continue to accept applications until the position is filled, Rookard said.
Maples, who has led the chamber for more than two years, is resigning to attend to out-of-state family health and business commitments and responsibilities in California.
The chamber board hired Maples in late July 2008. She is a former community and economic development manager who has worked in Delano and Porterville, Calif.
Maples grandparents’ family farm used to be where Walmart is today at Washington Street and Priest Road.
