Sen. Murray to visit site of Port Angeles Gateway project Thursday

PORT ANGELES — U.S. Sen. Patty Murray visits the city’s downtown waterfront on Thursday, where she will tour the future site of the Port Angeles International Gateway.

The Shoreline Democrat at 10 a.m. will see the site of a transit, parking and tourism information center planned at the northwest corner of Lincoln and Front streets and runs north toward Railroad Avenue. She will also be shown architectural drawings of the project, more than five years in the making.

“We will celebrate the project,” said Port Angeles City Councilwoman Karen Rogers, who will represent the city at the tour, briefing Murray on the Gateway’s progress.

Port Angeles City Councilman Gary Braun, who is Clallam Transit System’s board chairman, will represent that agency, which is planning space for a bus “hub.”

Rogers said future plans for a waterfront promenade along Railroad Avenue will also be shown to the senator.
