QUILCENE — A wrecked semi blocked all traffic on U.S. Highway 101 and Leland Cutoff road at 8 a.m this morning and at 5:30 p.m., it remains closed as crews attempt to get the rig upright again for towing.
No one was injured in the collision, but the semi was carrying an empty propane tank and out of an abundance of caution, State Patrol troopers closed off traffic, said Trooper Chelsea Hodgson, public information officer, in a tweet.
The highway re-opened temporarily at about 9 a.m. but closed again once tow trucks arrived on scene at 1 p.m., at which time the scene was fully blocked from the state Highway 104 interchange to Center Road.
“The road closure is for added safety as the semi & trailer are uprighted,” Trooper Hodgson tweeted.
Due to recent weather creating muddy and slick conditions, it has been difficult for the crews to get the semi upright so that it can be towed.
The roads will remain closed until the scene is cleared.
