Sekiu man, 46, charged with oxycodone sale

PORT ANGELES — A 46-year-old Sekiu man was charged last week with 10 felony drug and weapons crimes after he allegedly sold oxycodone to an Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team informant.

James G. “Chipper” Rode will be arraigned in Clallam County Superior Court on Friday on five counts of delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a designated school bus stop, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin and three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.

He was charged in Clallam County Superior Court on Wednesday.

He had posted $10,000 bail Tuesday.

Rode was arrested March 2 after OPNET detectives developed probable cause for the arrest in a cooperative investigation among several agencies, OPNET Narcotics Team Supervisor Jason Viada said.

Filed documents

Documents filed by officers in Clallam County Superior Court gave the following account:

An OPNET informant purchased prescription pills from Rode on five occasions between Feb. 14 and March 1.

The informant purchased a total of 28 oxycodone hydrochloride pills from Rode for a total of $990.

The sales of the 30- and 15-milligram pills occurred in the garage of the house Rode rents at 13643 state Highway 112.

A State Patrol detective wrote in the certification of probable cause that two school bus stops were located within 600 feet of the residence.

Search of home

During their search of the residence, detectives said they found five firearms and small amounts of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and heroin.

The drugs were sent to a State Patrol crime lab for an analysis.

Viada said Rode has an extensive criminal history that includes at least 21 prior convictions and a dozen felony convictions.

Rode is a Level 3 sex offender, which is classified as being a high risk to reoffend, Viada said.

Viada said OPNET tries to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking organizations on the North Olympic Peninsula.
