PORT ANGELES — For those less concerned about a car’s history and more concerned about getting a good deal, Clallam County has several vehicles up for auction.
On auction until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday are several vehicles that were seized as part of drug investigations, including a 2000 Toyota Solara, 1994 Ford Ranger, 2007 Ford Mustang, 1997 Ford Expedition and 1999 BMW.
The county also is selling two ambulances and a charger that did not work with a county forklift.
Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict said 10 percent of the proceeds will go to the state while 90 percent will fund the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team.
He said the county typically auctions vehicles that were seized during drug investigations about once a year.
He said a mechanic looks over each vehicle before it goes up for auction.
“I’ve never bought a car that was owned by a criminal, but we’re certainly not hiding it,” he said.
“We’ve got to do something with these things.”
So far the Mustang has had the most bids.
The price was at $3,200 Tuesday after 11 bids.
