PORT ANGELES — A portion of the Olympic Discovery Trail will be closed for repairs beginning Monday.
The trail will be closed to through traffic from east of the Rayonier property to west of Morse Creek from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Department and contractor 2 Grade Construction will repair damage from previous winter storms and slides, and work to prepare the trail for the upcoming winter season, according to a press release from Corey Delikat, Parks & Recreation director.
They will repair exposed trail sections.
State permits also are in hand for a second project not yet scheduled that will focus on sections west of the Ennis Creek area, said Tim Tucker, project manager for the department.
Once these sections have been fortified and repaired, efforts will be put toward culverts and stormwater ditches needing to be cleaned and cleared of debris, the city said.
This may also require some periodic trail closures, yet to be determined.
The company 2 Grade Construction will be an on-call contractor to assist the city with such winter storm problems as landslides, tree falls and mud transport.
