FORKS — Law-enforcers in several parts of the state are searching out family and friends of Michael D. Johnson, who escaped from Olympic Corrections Center south of Forks.
“We are really encouraging anyone who has contact with him to encourage him to turn himself in,” said Chad Lewis, spokesman for the state Department of Corrections, on Monday.
Johnson, 22, of Vancouver, Wash., was described as black with a slender build, 5-foot 4-inches tall and about 140 pounds.
He was wearing Department of Corrections-issued clothing — including khaki pants and a red sweatshirt — and was believed to be heading south from the minimum-security prison about 25 miles south of Forks.
