QUILCENE — Those searching for a 76-year-old Port Orchard man missing since Saturday reported that they had still not located him by midafternoon Thursday.
“We are still searching but haven’t found him yet,” said Keppie Keplinger, spokeswoman with the Jefferson County Department of Emergency Management.
Cecil Socrates Mann left his home Saturday on what his family thought was a one-day fishing trip.
A garbled voicemail to his granddaughter Saturday night caused her concern, and she reported it to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
A triangulation of Mann’s phone determined that the call originated in the Quilcene area.
A flier distributed by the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said Mann “has medical issues and has never been gone overnight before.”
Kitsap County deputies began investigating Sunday.
On Tuesday, law enforcement officers found Mann’s car, a 2007 Ford Focus, wrecked on an unpaved road leading to the Tunnel Creek Trail, which is in Olympic National Forest west of Quilcene.
Search-and-rescue operations have run nonstop since and include about 50 searchers from four counties — Jefferson, Kitsap, Clallam and King — along with the Border Patrol.
Two helicopters and a canine team are involved in the search, Keplinger said.
The searchers are crisscrossing the area, which is just south of the Clallam County line, Keplinger said.
