PORT ANGELES – Schools Superintendent Gary Cohn has withdrawn his application for superintendent of the Bellingham School District, saying he will stay in Port Angeles for at least another year.
“We decided that we don’t want to leave the Port Angeles area,” Cohn said in a telephone message left with the Peninsula Daily News before departing to attend an out-of-town seminar.
Cohn has headed the Port Angeles School District since 2001.
“We have had several conversations with board members throughout the search process and this weekend,” he said in the phone message.
“I’ve spoken several times with [wife] Sue, and we came to the decision that there is too much for us here in Port Angeles.
“We have come to like the community far too much.”
Cohn was unavailable for further comment Monday.
