Santa to arrive in Sequim

SEQUIM – Santa will arrive on a Harley Davidson motorcycle at Bank of American Park at noon Nov. 24.

Santa’s arrival at the park at Washington Street and Sequim Avenue will be preceded by an hour of holiday music by the Sequim City Band, which will begin performing at 11 am.

Santa will be at the Wal-Mart at 1110 W Washington St., in Sequim from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., picking up candy canes and getting gift ideas before he is escorted to the park by Sequim police officers, said Lee Lawrence, executive director of the Sequim Chamber of Commerce.

Children can have their photographs taken with Santa until about 2 p.m. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided, courtesy of the chamber.

The annual Christmas tree and holiday lights at the park will be in full glow and are made possible through donations by the Sequim Gazette, Bank of America and the chamber, as well as from proceeds of the annual sponsorship of hanging flower baskets, which are made by Sequim High School students.

The chamber has been decorating the park for the Christmas season for years.

“This year promises to be the best light display we’ve ever had,” said Emily Westcott, special projects volunteer.

The person who comes closest to guessing the number of lights put up by chamber members and volunteers will win a $200 Sequim shopping spree, Westcott said.

The money has been donated by Cheryl and Cherie Gray and Gail Frick, all of Edward Jones Investments of Sequim.

For more information, or to make a donation, phone Jeri Smith at the chamber office at 390-683-6197 or e-mail her at jeri@sequimchamber.com.
