PORT ANGELES — Scott and Cherilee Ramsey, who have managed Salvation Army holdings in Port Angeles since June 2013, are being transferred at the end of June to the Bremerton Salvation Army.
The Ramseys, both of whom hold the rank of Salvation Army major, have lived in Port Angeles for 12 years.
Previous to 2013, Cherilee worked at the Salvation Army in Port Angeles for five years while Scott worked as a loan processor in a mortgage office and as a sports official for the city Parks and Recreation Department.
Before moving to Port Angeles, they served for 20 years as Salvation Army officers in California.
New leaders for the Port Angeles operation will be Majors John and Sabrina Tumey, who are currently managing the Corps Community Center in Denver.
The Ramseys have overseen the funding and construction of a new kitchen, dining room and food pantry in a building across from the headquarters building at 206 S. Peabody St.
June’s change in leadership will not affect the newly established overnight shelter, Scott Ramsey said Tuesday.
The Salvation Army serves free meals Mondays through Fridays: breakfast from 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and lunch from noon to 1 p.m.
From 80 to 120 people are served at each meal.
The Salvation Army also holds church services at 11 a.m. Sundays.
