PORT TOWNSEND — The final two races of the 28th annual Classic Mariners’ Regatta and Rendezvous are today — and the weather promises to be as sunny and warm as it was Saturday.
A rowing race for wood dinghies, racing shells and kayaks will begin at 9 a.m. in Port Townsend Bay, while a sailboat race — with vessels running against a heavy tide toward Fort Worden State Park — will start at noon.
An awards ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. in the Heritage & Resource Building of the Northwest Maritime Center.
Kathy Grace, regatta coordinator, expected about 35 wooden boats to compete in the various classes, from the smaller T-Birds to the large schooners.
Two races were held Saturday while spectators lined the planks of the maritime center’s pier or settled in at one of the shoreline venues.
The National Weather Service predicts a sunny day in Port Townsend today with a high of 63 degrees.
