CARLSBORG — State Patrol troopers arrested a Sacramento, Calif., man after a wreck at U.S. Highway 101 and Carlsborg Road that injured a Port Angeles woman.
Trooper Mark Hodgson said the State Patrol arrested Thomas L. Finley, 52, for investigation of driving under the influence, hit-and-run and driving without a license following the wreck at 5:19 p.m. Thursday.
Injured in the wreck was Linda J. Haabala, 57, of Port Angeles. She was transported to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, where she was treated and discharged.
Finley was in custody at the Clallam County jail in lieu of $2,500 bail pending a hearing.
Hodgson said Finley left the scene of the wreck in his truck but was followed by a fire unit, who gave his location to troopers.
He was arrested in the 400 block of Boyce Road, less than a half-mile from the scene.
In its report, the State Patrol said Finley was driving westbound on Highway 101 approaching Carlsborg Road.
Troopers say Finley failed to stop his 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup truck and hit the 2000 Ford Ranger driven by Haabala. She was stopped at the Carlsborg Road traffic light.
The impact pushed her car into a second vehicle stopped at the traffic light, a 2006 Dodge pickup driven by Sherina A. Huisman, 45, of Sequim.
Her truck had minor damage and was driven from the scene, the State Patrol said.
Haabala’s truck was severely damaged and was towed from the scene. Finley’s truck also sustained damage and was towed.
The State Patrol had no estimate of how fast Finley was driving at the time of the wreck.
